OUR MINISTRIES

Married Couples

The purpose of this ministry is to support, encourage and instruct married couples of the church. The ministry plans fellowship activities, seminars, small group Bible studies, workshops and retreats for the married population of New Mt. Zion Church, all of which are designed to build stronger Christian marriages.

The Hook (Collegiate/Young Adult Ministry)

Reaches out to college students, by providing transportation from local universities to New Mt. Zion for the Sunday Celebration Services, weekly Bible Study sessions and activities that promote Christian fellowship.

iBelieve Media Ministry

This ministry is responsible for the recording Celebration Worship Services and other special services, producing and selling CD’s and DVD’s, preparing the PowerPoint for Celebration Worship Services and ensuring accurate sound levels during services.

Necrology

Assists the bereaved family of deceased members of New Mt. Zion by preparing and serving the repast after all funerals at the church.

Prayer Band

The Prayer Band ministry meets regularly on Mondays at noon and Saturday’s at 9am to pray God’s blessings upon the church’s ministries, sick and shut-ins, and communities.  They coordinate various prayer meetings to call on the Lord for specific needs.  They give annual food baskets for families in need and give Christmas Gifts to the Residents at Miracle Hill Nursing Home.

Hospitality

Persons in this ministry greet worshippers before the Sunday services and at special church events, along with distributing pertinent church information to all guests.

Parking and Traffic

Provides a friendly, organized and safe environment for all worshippers and guests entering and leaving the grounds of New Mt. Zion AME Church.

Dance

  • Collegiate/Young Adults sharing God’s Word through dance.
  • Collegiate/Young Adults Praise and Worship group sharing God’s Word through dance.
  • New Generation (ages 4-16) sharing God's Word through dance.
  • New Generation and Collegiate/Young Adults sharing God's Word through MIME.

Transportation

Serves the Lord by transporting persons to Church School and Celebration Worship Services.

Women’s Missionary Society

The WMS endeavors to make possible opportunities and resources to address the changing needs and concerns of people throughout the world. They meet regularly to discuss the Bible and are involved in mission activities in the community.

Iron Men/ Sons of Allen (Men’s)

The Sons of Allen was formed for the purpose of encouraging men to establish and/or strengthen their relationship with God. The Sons of Allen coordinate fellowship activities for the men of New Mt. Zion Church.

Singles

Brothers and sisters in Christ who support one another in developing a closer walk with God, thus building up men and women to become vessels of God. This ministry ministers to single persons that have never been married or who are divorced and widows. The ministry meets once a month on Fridays.

YPD

The YPD provides meaningful training opportunities on all areas of church life in order to enable children and youth to fully participate in the total mission of the church. YPD provides opportunities for leadership experience. Under the supervision of the Women’s Missionary Society, the YPD focuses on the young people of the church. The director and president plan programs to help the youth develop spiritual and social values.

Sensational Seniors

The seniors ministry coordinates fellowship opportunities for the elderly of the New Mt. Zion Church. The ministry provides care and support to its members.

Lay Organization

The official organization for non-clergy persons. This ministry is responsible for organizing and training lay members of the church. They encourage love and appreciation for the history, tradition and principles of African Methodism.

Music

Usher the people of God into God’s presence through worship, song, and exaltation.

Ushers

Ushers are the Lord's "doorkeepers". They greet worshippers, distribute worship bulletins and other pertinent information, receive the offerings and direct worshippers to available seating. Persons desiring to serve as an usher can choose from the following:
  • Male Ushers serve 1st Sunday services
  • Ushers #1, serve 2nd Sunday services
  • Ushers #2, serve 3rd Sunday services
  • Collegiate Ushers, serve 4th & 5th Sundays 9:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m. Worship services
  • New Generation (Youth) Ushers, serve 4th & 5th Sundays at 7:45 a.m. Celebration Worship Service

Social Media

The spiritual leaders of the church. The Stewards direct and ensure there is spiritual harmony within the body of the church. They comfort the distressed and the needy. Stewards help the Pastor and ministerial staff in carrying out their duties. Stewards are appointed by the Pastor and confirmed by the Quarterly Conference.

The Church School

The Church School provides opportunities for Biblical training and spiritual growth. These Sunday activities and classes are offered to children and adults.

Feeding of the Homeless

Zion Cares, Inc.

Members of this ministry believe in serving God by serving others. Each fifth Saturday, members prepare and serve hot meals to the residents at the homeless shelter. Members also collect and donate items that are needed for the underprivileged.
The mission is to support community-wide initiatives by identifying gaps that may exist and proactively identifying potential avenues through which to provide future support. Zion Cares, Inc. is dedicated to restoring hope to the community through Outreach initiatives, Hope-Building Activities and Purpose-Driven Programming.
